"Heaven and Earth"

October 3 - 17

"Heaven and Earth" is an exploration of the relationship between the vast, open skies and the land we call home. Through this collection, Manny aims to capture the sentiment of living where the horizon is not just a meeting point between the heavens and the earth, but also a reminder of the delicate balance that sustains us. These works invite viewers to look beyond the literal and contemplate the deeper connections between our environment and our place within it.

Manny is struck by the majesty of boundless skies and infinite horizons. These landscapes, where the sky meets the land, evoke a sense of beauty and serenity, but they also hold a deeper meaning. They remind us of our responsibility as stewards of this land and air. In these moments, we are called to live with purpose, kindness, and thoughtfulness, recognizing that our actions have a profound impact on the world around us.

In addition to the main body of representational works, this exhibition also features a small series of abstract pieces that serve as a complementary exploration of the themes in "Heaven and Earth." These abstract works are created using the color palette from the larger pieces, blending hues of vibrant color and muted earth tones. These colors, drawn from waterfalls, lakes, and open skies, offer a more intuitive and emotional expression of the landscapes and experiences that inspired the main works. The abstraction allows for a freer, more fluid interpretation of the land’s spirit, reducing it to its essence – color, movement, and texture. These pieces represent the afterglow of creation, both literally and figuratively, offering viewers a different, yet equally powerful, lens through which to connect with the land, the sky.

At its core, "Heaven and Earth" is about more than creating pretty pictures. It is about provoking thought, inspiring a deeper love and respect for the places we inhabit, and encouraging a sense of stewardship over the environment. Manny hopes that these works will not only captivate the eye but also touch the soul, reminding each of us of our responsibility to treat the land and its people with greater care and purpose.
