ARTIST STATEMENT
My inspiration for painting comes from things we see in the everyday. Cracked and broken sidewalks, patched roadways, and the reckless disrepair of urban and industrial spaces. I find the multitude of textures and mismatched lines beautiful and inspiring; a painting just waiting for colour.
Every painting tends to be named in a different way; either a colour sparks a mood or image in my mind, or one of the shapes in my paintings demands attention and becomes the trigger for the title. My paintings feel to me like stories that start off of the canvas, drift on, are captured in paint, then drift off again. Naming them helps people grab hold of a thread into the story, then unravel it however they wish.
