Andreas Durrer

The Artist

Andreas Durrer (*1960 Basel, Switzerland) is a freelance painter living in Basel, Switzerland. His Italian teacher is probably the reason for his understanding of form and the vibrant, mediterranean color compositions he creates.

Residing in Germany from 1986 to 1998 Durrer developed his interest in philosophical questions through his exposure to the teachings of a group of philosophers and Germanists: Goethe, Schiller, Novalis, Steiner all of which continue to inspire him and influence his creativity today.

Upon establishing NetzWerk Malerei in 2011, a painting school in Basel Switzerland, Durrer began participating in a steady schedule of exhibitions and art fairs showcasing his work throughout Europe; Karlsruhe, Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich, Paris, Cologne, Basel, Bern, Lausanne, Bielefeld.

Durrer’s art continues to be been strongly influenced and inspired by Prof. Gottfried Boehm, an art scholar and professor at the Universitiy of Basel, Switzerland.
